The Interesting Times We Live In

   I don't know a more diplomatic way to describe the current global, and US economic situation as "interesting," because it's a reference to an old Chinese curse: "May you live in interesting times." Things are not going well for much of the world, but there are those that are prospering amid the economic and physical devastation. Some of my friends, as well as Pres. Biden, are quick to cite "big oil," or "big business" in general for the inflation affecting us all. My response always is "why didn't they price oil and other goods this high two, five, or ten years ago, if they could do it?" No one has an answer for that, because the reason prices are rising is much more complicated. It's a combination of factors, a "perfect storm," if you will, of bad US policies and global market conditions. Random Thoughts on the Passing Scene

   With apologies to Thomas Sowell for appropriating his title and format, here are a few unconnected observations and opinions to ponder:    The Democratic Jan. 6th show being presented tonight is a colossal waste of time and money, with little, if any political impact. In fact, it's likely to turn informed independent voters against Democrats, this November. Why? For the same reason that Pres. Trump's influence in national politics is waning: most people are concerned with current issues, not past political battles. Notice that most successful GOP candidates in recent elections were not focusing on "stop the steal," with a few notable exceptions.    The successful recall of San Francisco DA Chesa Boudin is being hailed as a bellwether for dispatching similar Soros-funded DA's across the nation, including Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg. Because NYC and NYS have no recall process, the only way to remove Mr. Bragg is through gubernatorial action, for cause. The cause is
