How the 2020 Elections Led To a Disastrous 2021, and How It Will Affect the 2022 Elections

When Joe Biden won the election in 2020, the political divisions in the nation didn't end. In fact, the electoral outcome almost couldn't be more divisive. After the dust settled, the Republicans were a four seat minority in the House, and the Senate was tied fifty - fifty, with VP Harris breaking the tie for the Democrats. Because the House Republican candidates got significantly more votes than Pres. Trump got, and other often tenuous reasons, he declared the election fraudulent. Because of his claims of fraud, he and his surrogates discouraged Republican turnout in the two Georgia runoff Senate races, losing them both to weak Democrat candidates. This was the political atmosphere leading into the new year of 2021.    Pres. Trump is a firebrand, not a politician. His governing style was reckless, but he had a talent for appointing people who knew how to accomplish his policy goals, most of the time. Before COVID struck, his policies were actually very successful, even

Why Everyone Should Keep an Open Mind About Jan. 6th.

We all have heard the familiar narrative that on Jan. 6th, 2021, a group of people broke into the Capitol, trying to overthrow the US government. It's almost a year later, and there is still so much evidence that has not been made public. The preponderance of what has been released so far has supported the predominant narrative, to be sure. Not surprising, since in this case, the perpetrators are supporters of Donald Trump. There is ample evidence of government security agencies previously trying to frame him for imagined crimes (see the Russia collusion hoax), and the media have been willing accomplices all along. These are among the reasons I am keeping an open mind about that day, regardless of the echo chamber pushing the "insurrection" theory. I will outline some further reasons in this post.   The first of many red flags was the concerted effort to blame it on Pres. Trump, and the rushed second impeachment , based upon his rally that day. For all of the claims abo

The Omicron Deception

Nothing about the reaction to this Omicron variant makes sense. Let's start with why the WHO decided to skip the next two Greek letters. To be honest, I don't recall any other variant names than Delta, so I'm obviously uninformed. Apparently, though, there have been enough COVID variants to go through a dozen letters of the Greek alphabet . The next two letters were Nu and Xi, which were bypassed in favor of Omicron, the fifteenth letter. According to the WHO, the letter Nu sounded too much like the English word "new," and the letter Xi is a common Chinese surname. This doesn't pass the smell test, as Xi is not that common a surname, ranking 296th in most common Chinese family names, and the distinction of a variant called Nu would soon be overshadowed by successive, newer variants. No, the more likely explanation is that there is one very important person in China that has the surname Xi, and that is the leader of the Chinese Communist Party. He doesn't w

The Green New Deal is a War on the Poor, With NO Climate Benefit

Why are some Democrats, including Sen. Joe Manchin , calling on Pres. Biden to open up the Keystone XL pipeline? Because shutting it has contributed to the current spike in energy prices is the politically obvious answer. However, there is a larger, more pertinent question to ask. Why do Democrats use climate change as an excuse to destroy the national economy? Pres. Biden's action against Keystone XL was just one aspect of the larger policy, driven by the far left wing of his party. He parrots their claim that there is a "global climate crisis" that demands we stop using all fossil fuels, without heed to the cost, or if there is a viable alternative.    Pres. Biden has rejoined the Paris Accords, which Pres. Trump wisely withdrew from. Nothing in the agreement will have any effect on the climate , and the US is one of the only nations that has been reducing greenhouse gas emissions on its own, both before joining the accords, and after withdrawing from them. Political Projection

Have you ever noticed, or heard about  how an unfaithful partner in a relationship always acts jealous, constantly accusing the faithful partner of infidelity? It's called projection, when a person projects their own faults onto others. It happens to be fairly common in politics, as well. In particular, the Democrats have done all of the following: Accused the Trump campaign of Russian collusion, when Hillary's campaign actually did collude with Russians. This one is breaking news these days , but the left wing media are not reporting it. However, the truth is that Hillary's campaign used Russian sources to fabricate claims about Trump, and then used political allies in the intelligence services to initiate the Special Counsel probe, after she lost the election. The Democrats fed on this lie for years, and undermined Trump's presidency to an unprecedented degree. How much of the supposed "turmoil" and "craziness" of his term could have been avoide

If McAuliffe Loses in Virginia, Blame the Loudoun County School Board

The Virginia gubernatorial race has taken a very strange turn in the last few weeks. Former Governor Terry McAuliffe had a comfortable lead, for some time. He had been "playing the Trump card," an expression meaning to paint his opponent as a version of Pres. Trump, or a supporter. This was easy enough, since Glenn Youngkin is a businessman, not a politician, and he has supported Pres. Trump . The race started to tighten up, though, as Pres. Biden's poll numbers tanked , and support for his policies waned, especially on the economy .    Meanwhile, in Loudoun County, VA, Scott Smith, the father of a girl who was sexually assaulted by a transgender student in the women's bathroom of the school was arrested for losing his temper at a school board meeting, when a school board official denied the assault had happened. This became national news, because the National School Boards Association tried to make Mr. Smith the "poster boy" for their letter to AG Mer

Why People Are Chanting "Let's Go Brandon" Everywhere, and Why it Means "F**k Joe Biden!"

I was slightly perplexed when I started seeing my friends commenting "Let's go, Brandon," seemingly at random, on many of my Facebook posts, over the last few days. I soon discovered that it was a euphemism for "F**k Joe Biden," which had been prevalent both as a comment on my posts, and as a stand alone post by many of my friends for much longer. Apparently, it has become a cultural phenomenon, that is bigger than partisan politics. That is not a good sign for any politician, especially a US President.   Before we get to the reasons that so many people across the political spectrum feel the need to either chant or write "F**k Joe Biden," the story of how "Let's go Brandon" became it's surrogate is worth relating. The chant of "F**k Joe Biden" has become popular at many sporting events, seemingly out of the blue. The president did not have to be there, or even be mentioned by the arena announcers. Especially at televise

Democrats' Dilemma Exposed: No Vote on Infrastructure, Sen. Manchin's Demands Laid Bare, and Another Debacle for Pres. Biden

The Democrats are working on another debacle for Pres. Biden, this time on the economy. More precisely, the progressive caucus thinks that Pres. Biden has given them their best opportunity to "destroy capitalism," and they're taking it. The pathway they chose was by tying a "bipartisan" infrastructure bill to a bloated "budget reconciliation" bill. That was just the start of this debacle. Let's look at a timeline: The WH published this "Fact Sheet" on 6/24/21, and announced their support for 1.2 trillion "infrastructure" spending over eight years. Also on 6/24/21, Speaker Pelosi announced "There won't be an infrastructure bill unless we have a reconciliation bill." On 7/28/21, it published another fact sheet , with more details of the infrastructure bill, and mentioning bipartisan agreement. Also on 7/28/21, Sen. Manchin proposes a deal to Sen. Schumer, outlining his top line numbers and positions for the bud

Unions in the Schoolhouse Door

It was 1963 when George Wallace famously stood in the schoolhouse door, proclaiming "segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever." Almost sixty years later, minority children are falling behind in those schools Wallace tried to bar them from attending. Not in every public school, but especially in the largest urban school districts nationwide. It's not all minorities, either. Asians, as a whole, are still outperforming Whites in most public schools. For some reason, Black and Latino students are not getting the education they deserve from our public schools. This column examines some of those reasons, and common sense solutions. It's important to remember who controls these public school districts. Virtually all of them are controlled by Democrat administrations, and have been for decades. These administrations have remained in power thanks to the power of the public sector unions, especially the teachers' unions. In fact, in many jurisdictions, it

I Love Joe Lieberman, But...

God bless Joe Lieberman. He writes a great editorial about the roots of faith getting us back to the roots of national unity. If only he could see fit to see that it is people in his own party that are not only tearing down religious faith, but the very founding unity of our nation. The NY Times "1619 Project" explicitly rejects the 1776' founding proclamation that "All men are created equal," and it is being pushed only by people of one party, and they are Democrats. As for religious faith, it is under siege by those that equate religious freedoms with persecution of others. While it may be a bit more bipartisan, there are not many Republicans looking to force religious people to abdicate their beliefs to comply with any US law. The constitution forbids it, even if the result is called "discrimination" by leftist politicians, bureaucrats and media.  I do love Sen. Joe, in that way one love a misguided family member, whose heart is in the right place,

The Biden Debacle Part II

In my previous post, I wrote about Pres. Biden's disastrous policy at the border, as well as it's impact on the spread of COVID. I also noted his false promise of bipartisanship, and embrace of the far left agenda. This post will deal with some of that agenda, including it's impact on the economy, law enforcement, race relations, education and the military. They're all interconnected in no small way, and Pres. Biden is making a mess of them all. With the left wing ascendant in his own party, he has found it easier to go along with them, rather than work with Republicans, even when they propose policies that a majority of Democrats support. The economy was recovering before Biden assumed office, and yet he continues to push a long wish list of leftist policies in the name of "recovery." The extension of unemployment benefits is a good example of how they can backfire. While he denies that the extra payments were keeping people from returning to work, the sta

The Biden Debacle, Part I

The Democrats beat Donald Trump in the 2020 election. The candidate that they nominated had been drummed out of the primaries twice before, but 2020 was an unusual year, to say the least. COVID 19 and the reaction to it changed everything, and definitely contributed to the sitting president getting ousted. The question today is about the man who replaced him, and the disastrous effect his policies are having on our nation, and the world. Candidate Joe Biden was a worse version of the one that Democrats had rejected twice before. It was apparent by his early failures in the primaries, until South Carolina. He really owes his victory to Rep. James Clyburn , who rallied the rank and file voters to support a faded old establishment candidate. It looks as if the ascending far left wing acquiesced, perhaps with assurances that he would bend to their agenda . In any case, Biden prevailed over all of the other candidates, including the farthest left ones.  Joe Biden won the election, although
