The Omicron Deception


Nothing about the reaction to this Omicron variant makes sense. Let's start with why the WHO decided to skip the next two Greek letters. To be honest, I don't recall any other variant names than Delta, so I'm obviously uninformed. Apparently, though, there have been enough COVID variants to go through a dozen letters of the Greek alphabet. The next two letters were Nu and Xi, which were bypassed in favor of Omicron, the fifteenth letter. According to the WHO, the letter Nu sounded too much like the English word "new," and the letter Xi is a common Chinese surname. This doesn't pass the smell test, as Xi is not that common a surname, ranking 296th in most common Chinese family names, and the distinction of a variant called Nu would soon be overshadowed by successive, newer variants.

No, the more likely explanation is that there is one very important person in China that has the surname Xi, and that is the leader of the Chinese Communist Party. He doesn't want his name attached to any variant of the virus that his nation unleashed on the world, and the WHO subserviently complied. As for the letter Nu, I suspect that the bureaucrats at the WHO thought that wouldn't be scary enough to justify their calls for more autocratic policies, in the name of "public health." They correctly thought that calling a new variant "Nu" would just make people think "another new one?" This would make resistance to their authority stronger.

The decision to call this new, weak variant "Omicron" was easy, and it had the desired effect. Nations around the globe have tried to reinstate the harshest, and least effective policies that destroyed their economies in 2020, only to find that the public wasn't going to comply. In the US, the divergence is at the state level, with NY's new Gov. Hochul repeating Gov. Cuomo's mistake of closing hospitals to elective patients, before any cases of Omicron, to Florida, where Gov. DeSantis has forbid employment discrimination regarding vaccination status, with still NO cases of Omicron.

The latest news is that five states have reported Omicron cases. Again, if I don't even recall more than half of the previous variants that have worked their way through various populations, what is so deadly about Omicron? NOTHING, apparently. That is why I have no hesitation to call all of the various government reactions, both in the US and around the world, as the Great Omicron Deception. We're being played for fools, folks, and if you don't stand up and push back, you are a puppet of power hungry politicians and bureaucrats.

However, there is one thing that also is true, but is not critical: He has been the most unjustly accused president of the modern era.
