The Bogus Charges Against Pres. Trump, Part IV

One can say many critical things about former Pres. Trump, many of which may be true. However, there is one thing that also is true, but is not critical: He has been the most unjustly accused president of the modern era. It's a fact: The "Russian collusion" allegations, which were not true. The two "impeachments," that didn't follow the regular House rules so blatantly that they were dismissed by the Senate both times, and now, a Manhattan DA has indicted Trump on the most spurious of grounds.

It's about time that DA Alvin Bragg was thrown out of office. This "prosecutorial overreach" should just be the final straw, because he has enough reasons preceding this. Abusing "discretion" to cover a "blanket" ban on prosecuting any specific offense is an abuse of power. He doesn't get to order his ADA's how to use their discretion, on specific crimes. It's incredibly ironic that he now is trying to upgrade a misdemeanor that is past the statute of limitations to a felony, just to target a former president of the other major party.

There is a theory that this is a ploy to help Trump win the GOP nomination, so that Biden can beat him again, in 2024. It sounds plausible, but if true, it is misguided. The primaries are a long way from now, and partisan extremists like DA Alvin Bragg and his ilk often overplay their hand, way too early. The Trump supporters may do this, as well, mistaking level-headed support against this indictment as support for Trump's re-election. It is nothing of the sort.

I'm looking forward to how this plays out, but so far, it hasn't changed anything, since the raid on Mar A Lago. Trump is a "wounded warrior," with solid support of a third of the GOP base. The more that the Democratic government entities use their power to attack him without evidence, they will alienate independents. If someone other than Trump becomes the GOP nominee, this puts Biden and his party in a hole.

Right now, it looks like the far left Dems are celebrating, and the moderate Dems are warning them not to. On the GOP side, most are rallying to Trump's defense, as I am. Again, if anyone says this is a good legal case against Trump, or says "No one is above the law," or now says "let's see the facts," they are blowing smoke. This case ought to be thrown out preemptorily by the first judge to adjudicate it.
