Will the Red Wave Reach NYS? Lee Zeldin Says Yes

Over the last six weeks, I've bee documenting the problems that Pres. Biden and his congressional allies have caused for America, and for themselves, politically. This week, I'd like to focus on my home state of New York. I, as well as thousands of others, have moved to Florida in the past two years. All of us had different reasons, but they pretty much fall into one of a few categories. Cost of living, taxes, excessive regulations, and crime. Three of these are generally long-standing issues in NYS, and have contributed to people and businesses leaving for greener pastures for some time. However, until about two years ago, crime was not a factor in this larger equation, because it was lower than the national average. What has changed, and why?

The simple answer is that the Democratic Party now has a supermajority in the NYS Legislature, and the party has been commandeered by the far left, ever since AOC ousted Joseph Crowley in the congressional primary. Crowley, while a US Representative, had a lock on the Queens Democratic machine, and had his cousin, Liz Crowley, on the NYC Council. They represented the establishment Democrats, who played tranactional "pay to play" politics. Ideology didn't matter as much as money. AOC's victory in the primary changed the whole dynamic of NYS politics.

Since then, the far-left has dominated the NYS legislature, as well as the national Democratic party. The disatrous "bail reform" laws have increased crime, including murders, statewide. The cosmetic "fixes" that were passed in response to the first backlash did nothing to stop the ongoing crime wave across the state. Gov. Hochul is clueless, trying to blame the rising crime stats on judges, or passing it off as a "perception" problem, as if knowing about higher crime rates isn't the same as being at higher risk of being a crime victim.

Unfortunately, Gov. Hochul is part of that "far-left" group of politicians, who oppose "incarceration" as a punishment for commiting a crime. She said as much, in her debate with Rep. Lee zeldin (Watch it here). In response to his asking why she never talks about locking criminals up, she said "I don't know why that's so important to you." Besides being clueless, it exposed her thought process. She is a leftie, who thinks that being pro-incarceration is racist. Her statement was an inept attempt to portray Zeldin as a racist for supporting incarceration.

This is where dumb-ass lefties like Gov. Hochul have gone off of the rails, They are worried about minority criminals, but don't seem to have any cares about the minority victims of these criminals. It must be so easy to live in a bubble, and have a worldview that bears no resemblance to reality, to say the statements she did, in her debate with Rep. Zeldin. In truth, she may not even be a leftie, but a political stooge, who stumbled into the governor's office. She just may be following a script.

It's no wonder that Rep. Lee Zeldin has a good chance of being elected as the next governor of NYS. The issues are pretty straightforward. He will fire Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg for cause on day one, and will look at all of the DA's in the state, to assess if they are not doing their jobs. He will need legislative help, but if the "red wave" puts him in office, it may affect the state legislature, as well. That "bail reform" law has to go, as well as several other criminal-friendly measures that are on the books.

I haven't even started on the economic problems that NYS has created for itself. It is one of the least business-friendly states, and has been for a long time. Fixing the crime problem will not bring back businesses that have left, or attract new ones. Regulatory strangulation keeps small businesses from growing in state, and new ones from expanding into NY. "Pay to Play," as official government policy, has to be discarded. I'm not sure if any governor can do that, but it definitely won't happen under Gov. Hochul. If I were still living in NYS, I'd jump at giving Rep. Zeldin a chance.
