There is a rich debate going on about intelligent design. Here's my two cents: The secular left should love this. In fact, I think some of them are loving it. A new idea to demonize ; something to fight against . I pity them, especially on this issue. Ideas are the easiest thing to spread when banned. That's why they're going to lose on this one. ...OK , so they're not loving it. They're fighting against it, tooth and lawsuit (hello, ACLU-see link) . In my life, I have a contributed a total of $20 dollars in political donations, none of which went to any political candidate. I am about to double my lifetime donations, because I am donating $20 to STOP the ACLU , most of all because they oppose the ACLU's support of ABSOLUTE "civil liberties" above "national security." (READ the ABSOLUTE link !) There are many other aspects of the ACLU that are harmful to this nation, and every individual's civil liberties. Please go to STOP the ACLU , and see what I mean. This is a grassroots effort, against an institution that has changed the course of history signifigantly over the last century, for better and worse. I've been invited to do some news reporting over at the Knickerbocker News . Asked if I had any area that I preferred, I thought of a "civil rights" beat. I'm going to cull all of the news stories that I see on the various STOP the ACLU-related blogs, and post them over there every week or so. While Magua is on vacation, I have posted a few classic LEAVWORLD gems over at his LIBERALS SUCK blog, all linked in one post! Since he and I go back over 20 years, I'm sure he won't mind (what are friends for?). Two of the six posts are about the ACLU, so I hope my friends from STOP the ACLU will go check them out, as these posts were from before I even heard of their excellent grass-roots effort. I was already "on the same page" back then, though! (RIGHT ON!) I also have to say that MAGUA is one good apple, who's not afraid to post it as he sees it. Check it out, it's all good stuff!

I just read a great post over at legal redux , a cool blog recently added to my links list. They have a great take on the comparison of the war on terror to WWII. I would be remiss not to mention that I have an old LEAVWORLD post with a similar comparison about a different aspect, focusing on the Iraqi front. While mine is a one-sided rant, skeptic from legal redux puts out both sides, with news stories linked for each side. Good work, and an interesting blog. GO READ IT, ALREADY!

Lately, I've seen many MSM (Main Stream Media) outlets citing polls that say Pres. Bush has bungled the war in Iraq, often in conjunction with a story about Cindy Sheehan saying "my son died for oil." This is also August, the slowest political news month of the year. I shouldn't expect more of the MSM, but this seems like their own little version of the Tet offensive, during a political holiday. Poor Ms. Sheehan got caught up in this plot to "Vietnamize" Iraq, and has become their leading weapon in it. I don't want to write about her, though. I want to expose the sneaky tactics used by the media, and the fallacy of their opposition to the war in Iraq. Continuing my crusade against the ACLU, I wholeheartedly support this statement from STOP the ACLU.org : There is a call for Congress to launch an investigation of the ACLU, partly due to its lawsuit against the New York Police Dept to cease baggage searches on New York subways. It is long overdue, considering a report from the New York Times in June about the shredding of certain documents. There is another reason Congress needs to hold hearings on the ACLU. These are excerpts from my response to Rosemary's comments on my last post, which led me to a RANT about living in NY: Regarding Pirro's abortion position: politicians in this state are either scared to confront the libs on this, or they belive in "splitting the difference," or being pro-abortion for the first six months of a pregnancy. My greatest hope for Ms. Pirro, should she be elected, is that she would vote yes on a bill banning "partial birth abortions." This is enough for me to support her, as opposed to our current junior Senator, who supports this horrible infanticide. Look up Fred U. Dicker, from the NY Post. Sean Delonas, the infamous Page Six cartoonist for the NY Post, had the funniest take on the NY Senate race. I hope this link is still good (it requires registration, which should be free), and you can see how twisted this guy's sense of humor is. Thursday's 'toon is also about Pirro and Hil, with Bill thrown in, for good measure. This guy is another reason why the NY POST is MY hometown paper, even though I live a few miles outside of Queens. I have one criticism, though. Since Pirro came out with the first attack, she should be smacking Hillary. I bet Delonas doesn't like Hil, and as such doesn't want to play into her "victim" image, which always plays well in the polls when it surfaces. Still, a funny take on a BIG NY race, with more to follow, obviously. Amy Ridenour's National Center Blog has an excellent post about a "civil rights" rally that was held in Atlanta over the weekend. Harry Belafonte got most of the media's attention, but a number of leading Democrats spoke there also. This is the stuff that few in the media question. Why do elected representatives, who all happen to be Democrats, get away with standing on the same stage from which such hateful racist rhetoric is being spewed? In fact, their own rhetoric echoed many of the points that the worst race-baiters made. So they did it. The NYCLU has filed suit against NYC in order to stop the random searches of subway riders' bags. This is strange, considering the searches aren't mandatory. There has also been much talk of how ineffective random searches are. A few local politicians are also suggesting targeted searches, or profiling. The NYCLU would definitely oppose this. Other politicians are saying that the police record the race, religion, and nationality of everyone searched (probably to get data aiding the NYCLU's lawsuit). This is absurd on it's face. Let's look at the effects of the policy. Random searches are a deterrent, to some extent. They are far from ideal, but today's PC crowd finds profiling to be some kind of dirty word, and no government agency has had the courage to do it. Here's my point.
